With visible police presence and tighter security, spectators behaved themselves at Orlando Stadium last night, but Orlando Pirates' slump plumbed new depths when they lost 2-1 to Bidvest Wits.

First-half goals by Gabadinho Mhango were enough for the Students, who moved back to the top of the log on goal difference.

Pirates have not won in their last seven league matches dating back to their 1-0 win away to Chippa United in November.

Mhango's two goals in the 29th and 45th minute painted a picture of Pirates' dereliction of their defensive duties.

Mhango waltzed past Happy Jele and Thabo Matlaba before unleashing a right-footed curler past helpless goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane.

Having embarrassed Ajax Cape Town last week, the Students were in the mood to do the same to Pirates.

Bucs finally found some fight, and a goal, through Jele after the defender capitalised on a rebound from a Dove Wome shot just past the hour mark .

Also last night, Supersport United extended their unbeaten run to 14 games, but Free State Stars deserved more than a goalless draw at James Motlatsi Stadium in Orkney .

Stars went into the game in second-last place having returned from the PSL's break with a 3-1 defeat away at Kaizer Chiefs.

Here they were hungry, dominating Supersport. They needed a win but were left with the consolation that, should they maintain this level of performance, the points will come.

In another PSL match last night, Baroka drew 0-0 with Platinum Stars at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
