Veld fire alongside Cape Town’s N7

A veld fire has started alongside the N7 in the Western Cape.

“The city's fire and rescue service responded to an extensive area of vegetation which is burning along the N7 near the Plattekloof turn off‚” said City of Cape Town fire and rescue spokesperson Theo Layne.

Currently there are four firefighting vehicles with 21 firefighters on the scene. “There is no immediate danger to property and the cause of the fire is undetermined. The fire is causing a low visibility due to the copious quantities of smoke.”

Motorists are urged to approach the area with caution.
