Oxford University might break with more than 700 years of tradition by establishing a foreign campus - in response to Brexit.
French officials met senior staff at Oxford last week to discuss proposals that they hope will guarantee future EU funding for a "satellite" base in Paris.
Other British universities, including Warwick, were approached with the idea to build a campus in Paris in 2018. The initiative comes after France launched a charm offensive to lure UK bankers across the English Channel after Brexit.
Oxford has been told that any campus opened in France could have French legal status and would continue to receive EU funding.
If the idea get the nod, building is likely to start in 2018.
