Toddler drowns in swimming pool

A 14-month-old girl drowned in a swimming pool in Gillets‚ west of Durban‚ on Wednesday night.

Netcare911 spokesperson Chris Botha said that medics had rushed to a house in Russell Ridge Road.

“Reports from the scene indicate that a 14-month-old-girl had fallen into the swimming pool. She was found by a family member who started CPR‚” he said.

“Paramedics arrived at the scene and took over with advanced life support resuscitation. A local trauma doctor arrived at the scene as well and assisted the crews with the resuscitation. Tragically despite all the efforts from the medical services who worked hand in hand to save the child‚ she was declared dead‚” Botha added.
