The case of a former Soweto teacher who is accused of stabbing a school principal was postponed at the Lenasia Regional Court on Wednesday to allow the man to apply for legal aid.

Sowetan reported earlier this month that Oriah Molapo had fired his defence lawyer Peter Shilane‚ citing his failure to help him.

Molapo‚ 45‚ is facing charges of attempted murder for stabbing Paul Mosaka Primary School principal Nomathemba Lepebe more than 25 times in November.

It is alleged the two had been at loggerheads for years over Molapo’s fake qualifications when he was still a teacher at the school.

  • Mashaba is lying‚ says ANC on bloody Midrand clashThe ANC on Wednesday denied that its members were to blame for a bloody showdown that broke out at a community meeting held in Midrand on Tuesday night.

He was denied bail in December after the court found that the case against him was too “overwhelming”.

Molapo‚ who had indicated that he would find another lawyer‚ said on Wednesday he was having difficulties finding one.

“Most of the lawyers want money and at the end they leave without helping me‚” he told the court.

He was advised to apply for legal aid and his case was postponed to Monday.
