KZN disaster teams prepared for worst as bad weather moves in

KwaZulu-Natal's disaster management teams are on high alert as the cold front sweeps through the province.

The South African Weather Service has issued a weather warning of strong winds‚ heavy rain and snow.

Key routes are being monitored‚ said the province’s MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs Nomusa Dube-Ncube.

  • Whip out the winter woollies for a cold‚ rainy weekendBatten down the hatches and brace for cold‚ wet and windy weather pretty much everywhere in South Africa over the next few days‚ the SA Weather Service has warned. 

"We appeal to all [people] to avoid crossing rivers or streams because we have lost many lives in the past when people attempted [walk or drive] crossing a river or a low-lying bridge‚" said Dube-Ncube.
