Eviction order for Australia's most expensive sheep named Baa

An Australian vowed Monday to continue his fight to keep a pet sheep called Baa in his suburban backyard despite another court loss and a legal bill already at 150,000 Australian dollars (154,000 US dollars).

"The sheep is a member of my family and I have to help her until the end of all of my capacity," Vietnamese-born Vu Ho told Australia's AAP news agency.

The Victorian Supreme Court had just ruled that local authorities were within their rights to order Baa's removal because the plot she is on is too small.

"When first I came to Australia in 1981 I very much admired many values of Australian society - one of them was the love for animals," he said. "Another value was the love of justice and similarly now I have to defend that value."

By-laws prevent householders from keeping livestock on land of less than half a hectare.

Lawyers for the City of Dandenong have asked that legal costs be awarded against Ho, an unemployed mechanic.
