A man threw a garter snake in a Saskatoon Tim Hortons store because his onions weren't diced.

Two male customers had apparently gotten into an argument with an employee over their breakfast order at the US based cafe and bake shop - they wanted their onions dices according to The StarPhoenix.

Eventually one of them reached into the pocket of the other, pulled out the garter snake and threw it behind the counter.

“I’ve never heard of a snake being thrown at an employee by a customer … It was definitely a little chaotic,” said Saskatoon police spokeswoman Alyson Edwards.

Apparently the staff fled the store in fear after the incident.

The snake, which is non-venemous, was unharmed and has since been named Outlaw.

It is in a temporary shelter for now, until it can be released into the wild in spring.
