At first I found FNB's latest line of adverts to be, quite frankly, annoying.

The whole concept appears to be to convince people to change banks by alerting them to the services FNB offers – so when I go to the auto-teller and it tells me to unSteve myself, I can't help but think they are a bit leery of my custom.

But over time I have come to accept and even celebrate the idea at the heart of the campaign, I think it is definitely time people unSteved themselves.

For example if you are still singing Die Stem as if it has no negative historic connotations that you should be kind of ashamed of, unSteve yourself.

Recently physicists theorised that our universe may actually overlap several others, some of which may be distinctly different to ours.

Most of the influence they seem to have is on a quantum level, but that doesn't mean they can't impact things on a larger scale.

So if you are a visitor from say, a universe in which black people were the architects of Apartheid, do yourself a favour and un-Steve yourself.

We have Google in this universe, use it to prevent yourself sounding like an idiot.

If you claim white people built everything good in this country, while ignoring the historic exploitation of black labour to actually lend the muscle required to do it, unSteve yourself.

If you want black people to just get over apartheid, but you still hold the Boer War against the English, unSteve yourself.

If you go on and on about how great our farmers are, and then claim they can't afford to pay living wages, unSteve yourself.

If your career is mainly being maintained by people who think the most prosperous racial segment of our society (as evidenced by it having the lowest unemployment rate, and the greatest share of top business positions) is currently suffering a genocide, unSteve yourself.

If you are so freaked by black people that a puppet with a white guy's hand up its backside scares you, unSteve yourself.

And of course if you are taking this personally, don't worry, actually it is about ethics in games journalism.
