The ANC says disciplinary hearings against the ANC Youth League leadership will continue at Luthuli House for now.

"The hearing will be held at Luthuli House, however if the situation does not improve from Tuesday, it will be moved to an alternative venue," ANC spokesman Jackson Mthembu said.

"The National Disciplinary Committee would make the final decision when or if to move venues."

The ANC announced a change in the venue of the hearings after rioters thronged Johannesburg's city centre on Tuesday, hurling broken bricks at police and journalists, and burning pictures of President Jacob Zuma.

Mthembu said the ANC could not gamble on the negative impact the riots had on the economy as well as on the people working in the Johannesburg CBD.
