The African National Congress’ four-day-long policy conference has cost the party R40 million.
The Sunday Independent reports that this included the cost of hiring Gallagher convention centre in Midrand, accommodation, meals for 3 500 delegates, and their transport from various parts of the country.
Treasurer-general Mathews Phosa said the ANC had paid its bills "in cash". Delegates had paid a token contribution, but unnamed donors had been "generous".
About 5 000 delegates were expected to attend the party's elective conference in Mangaung in December, Phosa told the paper.

Posted 327 days agoNo wonder they are pleading poverty. That is a barnload of cash to spend on a shouting match

Please don't complain. Keep in mind that these 3.500 back-riders must indoctrinate 750.000 anc members how to lie, steal, distract, make smoke screens and most important, be the guard dogs who have to protect the anc rulers and.... distribute T-shirts, free meals and drinks, together with empty promises to the destitute and hungry voters.
Momma, only 40.000.000 to oil and grease these comrades and/or prim-ates is really not overspend.
