The African National Congress will be aiming to secure at least 70 percent of the vote in KwaZulu-Natal in the 2014 elections.

This emerged when ANC provincial secretary Sihle Zikalala read out the party's declaration that was agreed at the ANC's provincial general council held in Durban.

"The election campaign of the ANC starts here and now. We are saying 70%, nothing less than that," he told delegates.

In the 2009 election the party obtained almost 63% of the vote.
