Crowds gathered on Greenmarket Square in Cape Town's city centre yesterday morning to cheer DA leader and Western Cape premier Helen Zille as she put up the first of her party's final line of election posters.

The poster, with the wording " Your vote can make history" features pictures of Zille, DA parliamentary leader Lindiwe Mazibuko, Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille and DA Gauteng premier candidate Mmusi Maimane.

All four people on the poster attended the event on Greenmarket Square yesterday.

Zille climbed a ladder to fix a poster to a pole in the middle of the square as passers by cheered and took pictures with their cell-phones.

She said  where the DA governs, things are heading in the right direction, step by step, and that, little by little, over time, people begin to feel what she calls the DA difference.

"Wherever I go, my experience on the ground indicates a significant shift in support towards the DA in this election," she maintained.

"That is why each and every South African can make history with their vote! Every vote for the DA will help to make history in our country – it will help to end corruption, to start job creating economic growth, to provide guaranteed university funding to all qualifying matrics, and 1 million internships for people looking to get their first job.

Zille reiterated that she believed the DA can win the Western Cape again, and we can keep the ANC below 50% in Gauteng.

"It is by no means certain that the DA will win in the Western Cape or Gauteng, but it is possible if every person who stands together for change and together for jobs turns out to vote for the DA on May 7," Zille said.
