The DA insists that it has evidence proving that the party's former Cape Town metro chairman Grant Pascoe was “bought” by the ANC's Western Cape chairman Marius Fransman.

But both Fransman and Pascoe, interviewed seperately laughed off DA leader Helen Zille's claim that the latter had accepted R1 million and an “expensive” car to join the ANC.

Pascoe yesterday insisted that he had no financial woes, and said Zille was merely parroting rumours which had been circulated within DA circles following the announcement on Monday that he had joined the ANC.

Fransman had threatened legal action Zille for claiming that he was trying to induce defections from the DA with the offer of cash and jobs.

DA Western Cape leader Ivan Meyer insisted that the party had proof of Fransman's skulduggery, and said it welcomed any court challenge from the ANC.

“We are happy to prove in court that the ANC is corrupt. Their only method of recruitment is to throw money at people. The party no longer has values or a plan of action to inspire people.

“We have solid proof that Mr Fransman “bought” Mr Pascoe, and that he has in fact attempted to buy other DA members as well,” charged Meyer.
