The ANC Youth League in Mpumalanga has had one its members sworn in as a member of the provincial legislature.

The league’s provincial secretary Sasekani Manzini was sworn in as a member of the provincial legislature on Thursday afternoon. He replaced ANC backbencher Basani Violet Nkuna.

ANCYL provincial chairman Desmond Moela vowed that more ANCYL members would be sworn in.

Manzini said she was there to work for “the people.”

"It is a very good thing to be part of those contributing to make sure that the ANC delivers. In the ANC you do not celebrate as an individual. I cannot say I am excited. I will just say I thank the ANC for trusting me."

She said the ANCYL has a number of resolutions in terms of how the government should approach its development goals.

Legislature Speaker, Thandi Shongwe, said Nkuna resigned because of other commitments.
