Zuma arrives in Qatar for state visit

President Jacob Zuma arrived‚ after a day of drama in parliament over who paid for his homestead at Nkandla‚ in the State of Qatar for an official visit on Wednesday. Zuma will‚ according to the presidency‚ hold bilateral talks on trade and economic relations between the two countries in addition to “critical aspects related to global and regional security and stability”. It was not immediately clear if Zuma and his entourage flew to the capital Doha on the presidential jet‚ Inkwazi‚ although online aircraft monitoring services indicated that the Boeing Business Jet departed from Cape Town on Tuesday night‚ destined for Doha Hamad International Airport.Trade between South Africa and Qatar has increased from R4 billion in 2012 to R7 billion in 2015‚ according to the presidency. Most of South Africa's investments there are in the petrochemical-related sectors such as Sasol‚ which plays a significant role in Qatar in the development of the country's gas reserves.Zuma is scheduled to meet with the Emir of the State of Qatar‚ Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-ThaniTMG Digital..
