Little support for ACDP manifesto launch

African Christian Democratic Party president Rev Kenneth Meshoe delivered the party's manifesto speech to empty seats at Thokozo Community hall on Saturday. The Christian party leader seemed undeterred by the visibly unfilled hall as he read through his speech to about 200 supporters who gathered for the launch.Meshoe said the party promises to uphold its Christian policies as it goes into the August 3 local government elections.''Our party’s policies are based on biblical principles and we want to foster a spirit of true reconciliation‚" Rev Meshoe said.He added: ''Our policies aim to build social cohesion‚ address poor governance at local level‚ create an environment conducive to job creation and poverty alleviation‚ restore integrity and investor confidence‚ and protect and strengthen communities."Meshoe warned against voters who vote for the African National Congress out of loyalty.He said voters tended to be loyal to those who brought them liberation but the time of blind loyalty was over.“To those who brought liberty to SA thank you but you've passed your sell-by date. Days of blind loyalty are over." he added.The ACDP leader said charges should be brought against the Economic Freedom Fighters for damaging property in Parliament during a scuffle with parliament security guards on Tuesday...
