Premier plunged into mourning for second time in two months - loses two most important women in his life

Newly elected KwaZulu-Natal premier Willies Mchunu - who lost his wife‚ Dudu‚ in April - is again in mourning - this time over the death of his mother‚ who died on Monday. Ntombikayise Mchunu‚ 85‚ although unwell‚ died suddenly on Monday. His elderly father‚ Joseph Mahope Mchunu‚ 101‚ is also in hospital.Mchunu only learnt of the tragic news late on Monday evening after switching on his cellphone following a marathon multi-party meeting.According his spokesman Ndabe Sibiya‚ his mother's death was unexpected as it was Mchunu’s father who has been in hospital for a lengthy period.Mchunu missed the sitting of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts today to join his family in mourning.“The Premier drove to uMtshezi [Estcourt] today to see his family. Although he’s distraught‚ the Premier will return to work tomorrow (Wednesday) where he will chair his first cabinet meeting‚” he said.“His father is also in ICU in hospital. We are requesting the people of KwaZulu-Natal to pray for the premier during this difficult period‚" said Sibiya.The funeral will be on Saturday‚ said Sibiya...
