The African National Congress has confirmed that the manifesto launch to have taken place in Khayelitsha‚ Cape Town‚ on Sunday has been postponed over disagreements with the elections candidate nominations.

The postponement is a result of “internal protesting from dissatisfied members within the party”‚ said the Western Cape’s provincial executive committee spokesperson‚ Jabu Mfusi.

  •

“It was decided that a postponement was necessary after it was clear that a number of members were dissatisfied with the candidates nomination process. We need to sort out these issues within the party before we address the public.”

  •

It was earlier reported that the Sunday meeting was cancelled because Deputy President Cyril Ramphosa was not available to deliver the keynote address. These claims have been denied.

  •

“The deputy president is available; we just need to make sure that all our members are satisfied with the nomination possess that will be implemented‚” Mfusi said.

ANC Western Cape media liaison officer Yolena Diko said the event is likely to take place in two weeks' time.

“We cannot give you any other details right now‚” Diko said.
