Voting for the Congress of the People (Cope) could make you one of the “happiest people on earth”. That’s according to spokesman Dennis Bloem‚ who on Tuesday said Cope “is going into this election tomorrow very confident that the people of South Africa will once again trust the party with their vote”.Live results, cool maps, fierce battlegrounds: follow the local elections on our web app:http://bit.ly/2apwZKU“Cope deserves your vote‚” Bloem said‚ offering the party’s leader‚ Mosiuoa Lekota‚ being the “first opposition party member to tell Mr [Jacob] Zuma in no uncertain terms that he had broke his Oath of office” as one reason for it.“We asserted that he could therefore not be called a president any longer.”But‚ continued Bloem: “There is another reason why we deserve your vote. It is an indisputable fact that the happiest people on earth are those who enjoy social democracy.“Cope took note of that and evolved a social democratic construct that is suited to our country and good for its total‚ rapid and peaceful transformation.“We are ready to help with programmes that will strengthen and stabilise whole communities‚ give people a greater say in the budgeting process‚ advance reconciliation‚ fine tune the economic engine and provide service commissioners to speed up and to improve service delivery.”Bloem conceded that Cope “is a small party for now but our potential is enormous”.“Cope encourages young people to vote Cope and to take over Cope to help them realise their dreams in a land of plenty‚” he added.“It is no exaggeration to say that we need to save South Africa. The situation in our country is cause for anxiety.“We need innovative political ideas and the vigour of youth to take what we have and to remould it quickly and efficiently to create a just and fair South Africa for all its people. We have lost 22 years of opportunity. Time is therefore not on our side.“Vote for Cope and begin to own it for a brighter future for yourself. Cope is yours to inherit.” ..
