Tense wait for evictions at Fort Hare

The situation is tense at the University of Fort Hare's Alice campus as students wait for the institution to execute an eviction order against students staying in residences. When TMG Digital visited one of the institution's residences‚ a student asked the reporter if he was the sheriff. The student who did not want to be named for fear of reprisal said they were expecting to be served at any moment.Varsities at tipping point as chaos rulesThe private security industry regulator has warned against security guards being put in the frontline in dealing with student protesters as university managements consider closing campuses after two weeks of increasingly violent "fees must fall" anarchy. “We are just going about our day waiting to be served at any time since the deadline was two in the afternoon‚” he said.The university has issued application forms to students to be considered for temporary accommodation in a residence in East London.
