Jimmy Manyi doesn't talk for us on Hlaudi: Government

The Ministry of Communications on Thursday distanced itself from comments made by Mzwanele 'Jimmy' Manyi saying that "Mr Hlaudi Motsoeneng was on the right side of the Employment Equity Act with regards to his qualifications".

"Furthermore‚ the Ministry wishes to state that Mr Manyi is no longer an advisor to the Minister of Communications and therefore does not speak on behalf of the Ministry."

The SABC has called a briefing for this afternoon after its board members were grilled yesterday by members of Parliament’s portfolio committee on communications‚ which agreed to hold an inquiry into the board.

The portfolio committee had quizzed the board on the controversial Motsoeneng’s new appointment as group executive for corporate affairs‚ following the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) dismissal of his challenge to a judgment which ruled that his earlier appointment as chief operating officer was unlawful.

During the session‚ SABC board members Vusi Mavuso and Krish Naidoo dropped a bombshell when they resigned.
