WATCH: New Public Protector Mkhwebane denies she was a spy

Incoming Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has denied that she was a spy.

And she intends to force the Democratic Alliance (DA) to retract claims that she was a spy.

The DA made the claims when it became clear that most political parties were endorsing her ahead of other candidates who were also interviewed for the post. The party alleged that she was a spy while she was working in China as an immigration officer for Home Affairs.

Speaking to the SABC Mkhwebane said, "There is no truth in that and that’s an issue which I will engage with them to make sure that possibly withdraw their statement."
