By majority‚ the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality council on Thursday recommended that Councillor Chris Roberts be fired and that it should be ratified by Eastern Cape Local Government MEC Fikile Xasa. Roberts called the UDM’s Mongameli Bobani a “bobbejaan” (baboon) during a Nelson Mandela Bay council meeting last year.He made the statement at a council meeting last year but later apologised‚ saying he had called Bobani “babobani” in jest.Roberts was found guilty by the Democratic Alliance’s federal legal commission of bringing the party into disrepute. He was demoted from whip in council to councillor‚ and fined R10,000 earlier this week. – TMG Digital/The Herald..
