Trollip says municipality lied to Van Rooyen about billboard removal

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has accused the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality of lying to Cooperative Governance Minister Des van Rooyen about who authorised the removal of a billboard in Port Elizabeth last month.The billboard which read “Danny Jordaan proudly brought to you by Jacob Zuma” was removed hours after it was erected.‘We’ll see you in court‚ Danny’‚ DA tells JordaanA statement by the DA’s Nelson Mandela Bay mayoral candidate‚ Athol Trollip‚ said an email from a municipal official states clearly that the instruction to remove the billboard came from Jordaan.However‚ in Van Rooyen’s reply to MP Kevin Mileham’s parliamentary question‚ he said that the municipality has “not yet established who gave the instruction for the billboard to be removed and it is still investigating the matter”.The Herald is trying to obtain comment from the municipality...
