The Department of Trade and Industry is confident that partnerships between South Africa and India will continue to grow for the benefit of both parties. On Friday‚ the South Africa-India CEO’s Forum met to continue with its work of ensuring growth in investment and trade between the two countries.The meeting coincided with the official state visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Deputy director-general in the Department of Trade and Industry Pumla Ncapai said more than 100 CEOs from both countries attended the meeting in Pretoria.“The South African government remains committed to support your plans as well as address any issues affecting trade and investment as discussed in this Forum. We are aware that government can only create an enabling environment for businesses to operate and the critical part of the commercial relations lies with the private sector‚” said Ncapayi.She added that government would ensure the implementation of eight memoranda of understanding (MOUs) which were signed by South Africa and Indian companies.These include an agreement between CIPLA Biotec and Dube Trade Port Corporation for the establishment of a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the Durban-based Dube Trade Zone.
