Newly elected Tshwane mayor Solly Msimanga said the only person who can have “blue light brigade” in city is President Jacob Zuma. "Blue lights will be a thing of the past in the city and the only person who will be allowed is the president and nobody else. The moment people start to feel they are important‚ that's when they start serving themselves instead of serving the community‚” said Msimanga.Msimanga said gone are the days where elected officials think they are VIPs and that the only VIPS are the people of the city. When asked about what will happen to people's jobs now that power has shifted in the metro‚ he said: "I'm not in the business of purging people and people will keep their jobs. We will make sure people retain their jobs as long as they are doing their jobs the way they are supposed to."He said that those who want to sabotage the metro’s programme will have to go.“From Monday we will go back to the communities to listen to them and they have to know how service delivery will take place‚” Msimanga said. “We need to be open about what we have or not have.”..
