The ANC in Nelson Mandela Bay is due to announce the resignation of its party leader in council‚ former mayor Danny Jordaan.

This is according to local radio station Algoa FM‚ which is reporting that the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro's former ruling African National Congress has scheduled a briefing for 2.30pm this afternoon where the formal announcement is expected to be made.

Jordaan lost the city to DA mayor Athol Trollip in the August local government elections and has been scarce ever since.

Algoa FM reports Jordaan‚ the soccer boss who was brought into to win the metro for the ANC after repeated accusations of mismanagement and corruption against former administrations‚ has not attended a single council meeting since then.
