Thabo Mokoena has been appointed Director-General of the Department of Mineral Resources.

The cabinet endorsed the appointment on Wednesday. Mokoena‚ an advocate‚ holds an LLB degree from the University of the Western Cape as well as a post-graduate diploma in law.

Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane welcomed Mokoena's appointment while thanking David Msiza‚ who had been acting in the position. Mokoena begins his duties in April.
