Twitter acquires Posterous

Twitter has acquired mobile blogging company Posterous, chirp a chorus of microbloggers as they spread the news around the Twittersphere.

“The opportunities in front of Twitter are exciting, and we couldn't be happier about bringing our team’s expertise to a product that reaches hundreds of millions of users around the globe,” said Posterous in a March 12 blog post announcing the acquisition.

“Will they limit blogging to 140 words?” ask Posterous users on Twitter, while others suggest that “Talent, not product, seems to behind the Twitter acquisition of Blogging Platform #Posterous.”

Tweeps are craving pizzas after seeing the name of pizza chain Dominos appear in the trending topics. “I'm hungry now” post microbloggers while others claim that “I've discovered that Domino's Pizza is tastier and far more nutritious if you cut out a slice-sized piece of the box and eat it w/the slice.”

The second season of Australian teen drama “Dance Academy” premiered on March 12 and Twitterers are making sure they don’t miss an episode.  

“#TypicalIndianSounds,” “#iLikePeopleWho” and “#ushouldnevertrust” fill the top three places in Twitter’s most talked about topics. “Martes y 13 (” Spanish for “Tuesday 13”), a day that often considered bad luck in Spanish speaking countries, is in fourth place.

India’s Minister of Agriculture “Sharad Pawar” is in fifth place, American basketball player “JaVale McGee” is in seventh place and French politician “Marine Le Pen” is in tenth place.
