Election adverts of a different kind - and featuring scantily clad models - have gone viral.

This week a local lingerie company launched a cheeky online advertising campaign using the posters and logos of political parties.

The tongue-in-cheek strategy by KwaZulu-Natal-based Just Undies uses election posters of the ANC, DA, IFP and Minority Front - emblazoned with pictures of sultry models in underwear.

Bearing the logos of the various parties, the posters have the pay-off line: "We provide you with support where you need it most."

On the IFP poster, the advert for seamless underwear reads: "Vote IFP - Invisible Fit Panty". Another urges: "Vote MF - Magnificant (sic) Figure".

The DA poster features a model wearing a sexy negligee with the words: "DA - Dramatic Attraction", while the final poster says: "Vote ANC - Another Nice Cup", above a busty woman in a burgundy bra.

Marketing director Vesen Chetty said they thought it would bring some "excitement" to the elections.

"We got all our stores involved and they came up with the ideas."

He said the campaign was launched on Facebook and via e-mail.
