Colm Moriarty of Ireland and Martin Wiegele of Austria have shot 5-under 66s to share the lead in the opening round of the Saint-Omer Open.

Moriarty was among the first golfers to tee off on Thursday and set the bar so high that only Wiegele could catch him in the afternoon.

The Austrian bogeyed his second hole but recovered with six birdies in a nine-hole span.

Joakim Backstrom of Sweden, the 2005 champion, carded a bogey-free 68 to share third place with Andrew Marshall of England, Wade Ormsby of Australia and Frenchmen Charles-Edouard Russo and Michael Lorenzo-Vera.
