Tiger Woods's former wife, Elin Nordegren, has begun a relationship with a "hunky" South African man, British tabloid The Sun reported.

The 30-year-old Swedish mother of the golfer's two children - son Charlie, 1, and daughter Sam, 3, - reportedly met the unnamed 35-year-old South African at the college in the US state of Florida where they are both studying.

A friend of hers reportedly said: "There's been kissing and cuddling but I don't know if it's gone further."

Nordegren, a former model, divorced Woods in August and was given a R733-million divorce settlement - on condition that she reveal no details of their life together or she will forfeit the lot.

In August, The Sun reported that Nordegren aimed to spend some of her settlement on building a mental health clinic for poor children.

She is studying "mental health counselling" the paper reported, on a part-time basis at Florida's Rollins College.

In August, during her only interview since Woods' infidelity scandal broke last year, Nordegren sad she went "through hell", but denied she ever hit him.

She said she and Woods tried for months to reconcile, but in the end, a marriage "without trust and love" wasn't good for anyone.
