The Yokohama leg of the International Triathlon Union’s World Championship has been rescheduled to September as a result of the ongoing aftermath of Japan’s earthquakes and tsunami.

The Yokohama event had been scheduled for May 14-15 but will now be held on Sept. 18-19.

The results will count toward the 2012 championship, as the 2011 season will still officially end with the Grand Final in Beijing on Sept. 10-11.

The elite men’s and women’s race will be held on Sept. 19 and the paratriathlon and age-group event on Sept.18.
