Lonwabo Tsotsobe has put the disappointment of losing his test place behind him to rise in the rankings of one-day cricket.
The left-arm quick, who lost out to Vernon Philander in the test team at the start of the summer, yesterday moved up to No 3 in the new ODI rankings for bowlers.
This makes him the highest-ranked South African, with Morne Morkel in seventh spot and Dale Steyn in 15th.
During the recent ODI matches against Sri Lanka he was the leading wicket-taker with Lasith Malinga. Both had 11 scalps, but the South African had a better average at 18.81 compared with 22.54.
He also had a better economy rate than Malinga: 4.81 to 5.51.
Tsotsobe also became the fastest South African to reach 50 wickets in ODI cricket, taking 28 matches. His total of 52 wickets has been achieved at an excellent average of 20.05.
