Police arrested a man on Saturday, for selling fake tickets ahead of the MTN8 Cup final in Durban, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) said in a statement.

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates were contesting the final scheduled for an 8.15pm kickoff.

"The South African Police Service arrested a suspect who was caught trying to sell 2014/15 MTN8 final counterfeit tickets," said the PSL.

The man had 100 tickets with him, and was arrested in the morning according to the PSL.

"We promised that we will crack down on people with counterfeit tickets," said PSL Head of Safety and Security, Phillip Masimong.

"We would like to warn those who are intending to sell or purchase fake tickets that they face arrest."

Masimong said the PSL was working closely with police to ensure only legitimate ticket holders gained access to the stadium.
