Orlando Pirates have been given extra time to attempt to get back to business with the postponement of Tuesday's league match against Platinum Stars.

The Premier Soccer League informed the two clubs on Thursday but the decision has not been made public.

But it was confirmed by league officials yesterday.

Pirates were due to play their first game since the murder of Senzo Meyiwa at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.

Bucs will now have more time to recover from the trauma plus the emotion of the weekend's funeral in Durban.

They return to the field at home at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday night in the Telkom Knockout semifinal against Supersport United.

This would be exactly a fortnight after Meyiwa's last appearance for the side in the previous round of the cup competition at the same venue.

The PSL cancelled all the weekend's league games as a mark of respect to Meyiwa and to allow football personalities from other clubs a chance to attend his funeral at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

Initially it was only the derby between Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs that was called off, but, under pressure, the league postponed all the weekend matches. All other midweek games will go ahead on Wednesday night, the PSL said.
