Chippa’s owner wants seven points from next three matches

Chippa United owner Siviwe Mpengesi believes his side have the potential for a top eight finish at the end of the season‚ shrugging off the mantle of perennial battlers against relegation. The Cape Town-based businessman feels he has put together a competitive squad and wants his side to now prove a lot more competitive.“After fighting relegation last season‚ we went to the market to strengthen the team.“If you look at the players we got like Aristides Bance‚ Lerato Chabangu and Mark Mayambela‚ we have put together a really strong team.“I wasn’t happy with losing two of our last three games but seven points from our next three matches will make me happy. When I look at this team they can really do things if they work together‚” Mpengesi predicts.Chippa host high-flying Bidvest Wits when the league resumes next weekend and then have matches away at Lamontville Golden Arrows (January 16) and home to Ajax Cape Town (January 24).New coach Dan Malesela has also said a top-eight finish can be achieved. “It’s highly possible‚” he said last week.Chippa sit ninth in the Premier Soccer League standings with 16 points from 12 matches. ..
