The start of the fifth One Day International between South Africa and the West Indies was delayed by rain in Centurion on Wednesday.

The toss, scheduled for 1pm, did not take place on time as the covers had only just been removed.

As a result of the poor weather, there were just a handful of spectators who had made their way into the ground, more hopeful than expectant of witnessing some cricket any time soon.

South Africa led the series 4-1 going into final match, after the West Indies won the fourth encounter in Port Elizabeth on Sunday.
