The National Prosecuting Authority has refused to confirm that Blue Bulls prop Bees Roux had started plea bargaining with the state.

Roux, 28, who was charged with murder after allegedly beating Tshwane metro policeman Sergeant Ntshimane Johannes Mogale to death in August last year, had his case postponed to tomorrow.

Prosecutor Shanaaz Mahommed asked the Pretoria High Court yesterday for a postponement to tomorrow because the state and the defence were negotiating.

NPA spokesman Mthunzi Mhaga would not confirm reports that Roux was negotiating to plead guilty to a lesser charge of culpable homicide.

"Discussions have been going on for a while, but they are taking longer than expected. We explained everything to the families involved and they are okay with it," said Mhaga.

Mogale had pulled Roux over for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

Roux is accused of beating him to death.

His R100 000 bail was extended.
