No Bull – becoming a Lion has revitalised Skosan

When Courtnall Skosan took a leap of faith with a move from the Bulls to the Lions in 2014‚ little did he know the journey would lead him to a Super Rugby final two years later. Deemed surplus to requirements in Pretoria‚ the Cape Town-born winger found a home at Ellis Park and it was the reception he received from the Lions that fired him up to make a constructive contribution in the side.“It is by the grace of God that I am here‚ and the backing of the coach and team. They trusted me from the minute I arrived‚” Skosan said from Wellington ahead of Saturday’s clash with the Hurricanes.“I still remember the day I first walked into [Ellis Park] when Warren Whiteley and Derick Minnie greeted me by name. That was a huge moment for me because they were not supposed to know me.“It has been an amazing journey. It has been an awesome opportunity.”Skosan has had a sublime effect on the Lions’ road to the final this season‚ alongside centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg leading the try-scoring statistics in the team‚ with the pair having scored 10 tries so far. They are only one try behind the top try-scorer of the season‚ Waratah’s Israel Folau. The speedy and elusive winger is hoping he can continue to make a contribution that will lead the Lions to success.“At the end of the day I just need to stick to the process and just make sure I do my job‚” Skosan said.“If I get an opportunity to finish one or two off – that is my job‚ I have to do it. It’s a 23-man effort this weekend. The 23 that will fire is the 23 that will take the result at the end of the day.”Looking back at the strides he has made since joining the Lions‚ Skosan said: “I’ve enjoyed every single minute of it. I got a bit of playing time‚ so it has been good to go out there and do what I love.” – TMG Digital ..
