Brendan Venter key facilitator at coaching indaba

11 October 2016 - 20:02 By Craig Ray

Respected coach Brendan Venter and former Springbok team psychologist Pieter Kruger will be key figures in next week’s SA Rugby’s coaching indaba. The gathering was the idea of current Bok coach Allister Coetzee‚ and will feature a wide range of rugby’s biggest and brightest in an effort to find solutions to the problems facing South African rugby in general. The Springboks have lost five out of nine Tests this year and only the Lions resembled a side with any chance of winning Super Rugby [they were runners-up].The Junior Springboks are regressing and key players are being lured abroad. The two-day indaba won't solve all these issues but it's a meeting that could see the framework of a new system begin to take shape. CEOs and coaching staff of all six Super Rugby franchises have been invited to attend the two-day event in conjunction with Springbok coaching staff‚ members of the rugby department of SA Rugby‚ former Springbok coaches and players and a representative of the MyPlayers‚ the players’ organisation. Venter and Kruger are facilitating the indaba. The indaba will discuss current playing trends across a wide range of areas of game play and seek alignment within SA Rugby on ways to ensure rugby excellence and continuous improvement to remain a top rugby-playing nation. In addition‚ SA Rugby will be addressing longer-term interventions to assist the Springbok team. - TMG Digital..
