Rene Adler has the support of coach Joachim Loew but must also prove his class if he wants to be Germany's number one goalkeeper at the upcoming World Cup, Loew said in an interview.

Loew and his staff decided on the Bayer Leverkusen man Adler as Germany's first choice goalkeeper for the June 11-July 11 tournament in South Africa last month, with Schalke 04's Manuel Neuer and Tim Wiese of Werder Bremen the other two keepers.

But Adler has not been at his best recently which re-opened the debate whether he was really the best choice.

"We said that Rene has it in his own hands whether he stays the number one. Everyone makes the odd mistake," Loew told the Bild daily.

Loew said he was not nervous as all three goalkeepers were strong.

"We committed ourselves to the three goalkeepers Adler, Neuer and Wiese because we have faith in them. This has not changed," Loew said.
