Italian football association president Giancarlo Abete says he will intervene if there is no resolution to the proposed players' striker on Sept. 25-26.

Abete spoke to the presidents of the league and players' association late on Monday after the pair had met to discuss a resolution to the proposed strike.

Abete told reporters on Tuesday: "We are working hard to find a solution by Sept. 25 because if we haven't found one by then, (the association) will intervene."

Italy's players announced the strike action in response to a proposal to limit their rights to refuse a transfer near the end of their contracts.
