Netherlands winger Ryan Babel joined Bundesliga club Hoffenheim from Liverpool on Tuesday on a 2½-year contract with an option for another year.
The German club announced the deal in a transfer reportedly worth €6.8 million ($9.3 million). Talks between Hoffenheim and Babel had looked to have broken down over personal terms, but Liverpool announced Monday that the move was back on.
"I'm looking forward to my new duties in Hoffenheim," Babel said. "My first impressions are very positive. I hope I can now settle quickly into the team."
Hoffenheim is eighth in the league standings, with 26 points after 19 games. Babel will likely make his debut in Hoffenheim's German Cup quarterfinal at second-division side Cottbus on Wednesday.
Babel had struggled to receive first-team football at Anfield over the past two seasons.
"Ryan was the player we wanted in attack," Hoffenheim coach Marco Pezzaiuoli said.
