Angry Sundowns fans vented their frustration after their side drew 1-1 with Platinum Stars on Sunday, forcing police to escort coach Antonio Lopez and general manager Keneth Makhanya out of the stadium

Supporters are fed up with the Pretoria side's performances, and if they have their way, Lopez Habas will have to face president Patrice Motsepe sometime during the week.

The Spaniard will have to explain the Brazilian’s poor form and how the team gave up a seven point lead at the top of the log before the Christmas break.

Since December 22, Sundowns have played six matches and won only one of these crucial matches.

Even in Sunday's draw they had to claw their way back after conceding a goal in the first half.

Habas will also have to explain his decision to use the rotation system instead of sticking to a formidable starting XI every week.

The supporters are demanding that Sundown’s manager Kenneth Makhanya and coach Habas resign from the club

. Motsepe is known to listen to his club supporters as he showed when he sacked the French man Henri Michel when an angry mob chased him out of the stadium in March 2009.

Even when Nyasha Mushekwi scored the equalizer in the 60th minute, the angry mob were still unhappy.

Stars had taken the lead three minutes before halftime through Joseph Molangoane, who outran the Matthew Booth in central defence to put the ball past goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands.

Sundowns could have scored more goals had they hit the target.

Elias Pelembe and Franklin Cale fluffed their chances when they only had Stars keeper Tapuwa Kapini to beat.

Tapini also showed his true potential by making the saves to deny Sundowns to score an avalanche of goals.

Sundowns, who had a better second half, pushed forward in an attempt to get a win but met serious resistance from Stars in defence.

Mbulelo “OJ” Mabizela, a former Sundowns player, partnered well in central defence with Mbuyiselo Sambu to stop the threat from Sundowns.

Although Mushekwi got the goal, Mabhuti Khenyeza and Pelembe failed to penetrate further and unlock the Stars back four.

Habas made two substitutions when he brought on striker Richard Henyekane in for Cale and Surprise Moriri on behalf of Matthew Pattison in midfield. The two changes looked to spark some changes in the Sundowns attack, but nothing came of it.

Sundowns are fourth on the PSL table after 17 matches and are slowly sliding down the title chasers packing order.

They are three points behind log leaders Orlando Pirates and could risk not making the Top 8 at the end of the season if they continue to produce half-hearted performances.

Their defence keeps changing in every match while their counterparts – Pirates, Chiefs and Ajax – have stuck it out with the same trusted defenders unless there are injuries and suspensions.

Sundowns next play relegation candidates Moroka Swallows at the Mbombela stadium on Wednesday, and the Dube Birds coach Gordon Igesund was at the stadium to observe his opponents’ flaws.
