Moroka Swallows midfield captain Lefa Tsutsulupa called on his players to take their chances in their crucial Absa Premier League match against Maritzburg United on Saturday evening.

“We just need to be more positive and score from the chances we create,” said Tsutsulupa.

A win for Swallows, who are currently second from bottom on the log, will close the gap on Maritzburg to four points who are one spot above The Birds.

“The game against Maritzburg United is very important, because they are the closest team to us, they’re just seven points above us, so if we win against them we will be narrowing the gap.

“It’s also very important for us momentum wise,” said Tsutsulupa.

Swallows have struggled for wins this season, only managing two victories from 18 matches.

“It’s been the hardest season ever. At the moment we’re in a position we don’t want to be. It’s been very difficult,” added Tsutsulupa.

Tsutsulupa also explained his teams approach to getting out of the relegation zone.

“We’re taking it game by game at this stage. We’re focusing our energies on certain teams and the playing patterns of the different teams.”

In other action this weekend, Santos host Ajax Cape Town at the Athlone stadium in what should be a fiery derby game on Friday evening. Ajax will be looking to keep the pressure on log leaders Pirates, who are just four points ahead of the Cape side.

Golden Arrows will host Bloemfontein Celtic at the Chatsworth Stadium in the only afternoon game on Saturday.

The clash of the weekend will be on Saturday evening when Sundowns travel to the Orlando Stadium to take on Pirates with just three points separating the teams.

The Buccanneers currently occupy the top spot on the log with 41 points.

In Sundays matches, Platinum Stars will host title contenders Kaizer Chiefs at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium while Cape side Vasco Da Gama will host bottom of the log Mpumalanga Black Aces.
