Lucas "Rhoo" Radebe has been named as one of the Premier Leagues 100 greatest ever players according to a report.

According to the list on the Daily Telegraph, the former Bafana Bafana skipper and Leeds legend is the 78th greatest premier league soccer player of all time.

Nelson Mandela had once named Lucas Radebe as his personal hero according to an AP report.

"I felt I could burst with pride," the former Leeds player said, recounting the moment in a newspaper interview, no longer quite as speechless as he was at the time. "I was thinking: Me? A hero to him?"

"As captain, 'The Chief' helped Leeds regularly finish in the top four in the early 2000s, while he was also a tireless campaigner against racism," The Telegraph wrote.

According to the list the greatest player is Ryan Giggs of Manchester United.

"His success and longevity is unsurpassed in the modern era, with Giggs progressing from his days as a wiry teenage winger - all long hair and spindly legs - to the most beautifully composed central midfielder in his latter years, pinging passes and dictating the pace of the play from deep. He is, quite simply, irreplaceable," The Telegraph wrote.
