Real Madrid will propose to their disciplinary board that 17 fans have their season tickets revoked after they were identified as being responsible for instigating derogatory chants aimed at Lionel Messi and FC Barcelona during Sunday’s meeting with Celta de Vigo.

“They will be banned from entering the stadium and the club, Spanish radio La COPE reported,” as per AS. “The club is studying video footage from the south stand, where the chants are believed to have started.”

“Organizing bodies the LFP and RFEF in conjunction with the Spanish Sports Council agreed this week that verbal abuse during football matches in Spain’s top two divisions would be considered punishable as part of new legislation in their drive to eradicate violence in sport.”
