Some football fans will go to extreme lengths to prove their love for their club – even if it comes to giving their child a slightly unusual name.
But while many youngsters’ names are inspired by legendary players, one little girl in Norway has a middle name which stands out a little more than usual – after her Liverpool-supporting father opted for ‘YNWA’, as reported by Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet.
The five-year-old, whose first name is the slightly more standard ‘Karoline’, is likely to spend the rest of her days explaining her second name – especially if she opts not to become a diehard Red.
But her parents remain confident in their choice.
‘I’m probably not as interested in football [as her father] but it was actually my suggestion to call her “YNWA”. He suggested “Gerrard”, before we knew about it was a boy or girl,’ said Karoline’s mother Eirin Isabell Iversen.
‘It would hardly have worked so well for a girl, and I suggested “YNWA”. The more we talked about it with the grandparents, the more it sank in, and we decided.
